Planning for their own funeral is something most people don't want to think about, or put off until "later." However, leaving instructions for your family will help them in a time when they are grieving and making decisions is difficult. You can spare your family an emotional and financial burden.

Leavitt Funeral Home staff can assist you in planning by telling you what expenses to expect and how you might best take care of the cost. It might be you wish to prepay or you have an insurance policy designated for this purpose.

You can also ease your family's pain by leaving instructions as to the disposal of your body (burial or cremation) and the type of service you prefer. If you are unsure of state laws concerning disposal of cremains, ask your funeral director.

If burial is your choice, you can choose and purchase a plot. You may wish to be buried where you lived, or perhaps in a family gravesite in another state.
