Mr. Robert Wayne Short, 72, of Morven, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the family home place in which he was born on May 23, 1938, a son of the late Lancey Franklin and Dora Griggs Short.
     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Sibley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
     The family will greet friends Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.
     Wayne was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of The Western Film Fair, having served as President, and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he was active with the United Methodist Men and served as church treasurer.
     He was retired from Carolinas Health Care in Charlotte as an accountant with 40 years of service.
     Surviving are his wife of nearly 51 years, Shirley Schumaker Short of the home; his sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Robin Short of Monroe and Robert Short of Morven; his grandson, Scott Short of Monroe; his nephews, Neal Short and wife Kathy of Ansonville and Alan Short of Wadesboro; and his great-nephews, Jesse and Samuel Short, both of Ansonville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Short.
