Mrs. Virginia Carpenter Scott, 84, of Monroe, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Monroe Square.
     Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. David Richardson officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
     Mrs. Scott was born in Anson County on December 31, 1925, a daughter of the late Thomas Vernon and Hester Mercedes Beachum Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin H. Scott.
     Survivors include her daughter, Linda Mabry of Wingate; five grandchildren, Eddie Mabry of Charlotte, Michael Mabry of Greensboro, Lynn Edwards of Polkton, Paula Beachum of Peachland and Clint Mabry of Marshville; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Cary Carpenter of Concord.
