Mr. John Michael De Vitto Jr., 96, of Monroe, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Hospice House of Union County.
     Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, in St. Rock’s Catholic Church, Staten Island, N.Y., with Father Joseph Currie and Father Thomas Cabala officiating. Interment will follow in Ocean View Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Harmon Funeral Home in Staten Island.
     Mr. De Vitto was born New York on August 17, 1913, a son of the late John Michael and Anna Marie Howe De Vitto. A professionally licensed civil engineer, he retired in 1985 from the Civil Service Division of the U.S. Army Department of Defense. Mr. De Vitto moved to the Monroe community in September 2008. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish of the Catholic Church and was married to Ann Deisler De Vitto who passed away in 2002.
     Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Maureen F. De Vitto of Monroe; a daughter, Regina A. De Vitto of the Bronx, N.Y.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
